Abbey’s Cafe operates on a not-for-profit basis and has inclusiveness at its heart. Our local area experiences high levels of financial deprivation, especially among older people and children. Because of this, we wanted to provide an affordable place to come and eat at the weekend (when there are fewer lunch clubs, for older people, and no free school meals for kids). We therefore charge just £2 per main meal for adults and £1 per meal for kids, which just about covers the cost of ingredients.
“Thanks for the comforting food. I wasn’t feeling too well and this helped enormously”
We also want to ensure that no one misses out. Therefore, if we know somebody is in particular financial need, we waive all charges. We don’t means-test or make anyone fill in complicated forms.
We’d really like to ensure the long-term financial sustainability of our cafe. Please do donate to us so we can keep providing disadvantaged and isolated people in our community with somewhere warm, friendly and affordable to eat healthy and delicious food every Saturday.
And of course, the best way to support us is to come and visit! We are open every Saturday from 11am – 2pm. Kilburn High Road and Kilburn Park stations are a 5-10 minute walk, and the 31 bus stops right outside. We hope to see you soon.
“Great and lovely to meet people on a lonely bank holiday weekend”
